Since 2004, Tamaas has been hosting an annual week-long poetry translation seminar. Poets of diverse origins and generations, based or sojourning in Paris, have been invited to work in pairs and groups to translate one another’s work. This poet-to-poet exchange is a distinctive feature of this cross-cultural workshop, and draws upon participants’ capacities as writers to handle the challenges of rendering poetry in another language.
Held, for its first fourteen years, at Reid Hall, an academic center operated by Columbia University in Vavin, in Paris, the workshop was named the READ Translation Seminar. The first-year, results were published simultaneously in Action Poétique (a journal) and by 1913 Press, in both French and English respectively. Following issues were published,as a volume entitled READ: A Journal of Inter-Translation with http://www.journal1913.org text, by 1913 Press.
In 2019, the translation seminar was held at the Tamaas rue de Bagnolet home in Paris. Following its first iteration outside of the academic institution, the seminar took the name of Tamaas Translation Seminar. In a movement toward hosting gatherings that are deliberately less reliant on precious earthly resources, upcoming seminars will be held in satellite locations, with participants joining either from the host city or places accessible by land.
Seminars have produced translations from French, English and Arabic languages, and, in some years, from Hebrew, Persian, and Italian. Upcoming seminars are to be hosted virtually from Brooklyn, NY in summer 2020 and in Marrakech in November 2020. All are welcome to attend the closing night reading of translations-in-progress.
Depuis 2004, Tamaas organise, chaque année, un séminaire d’une semaine consacré à la traduction poétique. Des poètes d’origines et de générations diverses, installés ou séjournant à Paris, sont invités à traduire, en binôme et en groupe, leurs travaux respectifs. Cet échange d’approches de poète à poète est la marque de fabrique de cet atelier interculturel, et fait appel à la capacité des auteurs en présence à relever les défis de la traduction poétique.
Organisé quatorze années de suite rue Vavin, à Reid Hall – la branche parisienne de l’université de Columbia –, l’atelier a été nommé Séminaire de traduction READ. L’année de sa création, le séminaire a fait paraître les fruits de ses travaux dans la revue Action Poétique, en français, et chez 1913 Press, en anglais. Les séminaires suivants ont été publiés, chaque année, sous la forme d'un volume intitulé : READ: Une revue d’inter-traduction, aux éditions 1913 Press.
En 2019, le séminaire a eu lieu dans le fief de Tamaas, rue de Bagnolet, à Paris. Après cette première édition hors les murs de l’université, il a pris le nom de Séminaire de traduction Tamaas. Afin d’organiser des rassemblements qui dépendent délibérément moins des précieuses ressources de notre planète, les prochains séminaires se tiendront dans des antennes de Tamaas, que les participants gagneront oui la ville d’accueil même ou par la route.
De ces séminaires, sont nées des traductions en français, en anglais et en arabe, voire, certaines années, en hébreu, en farsi et en italien. Il sera aussi possible d’y inclure d’autres langues à l’avenir. Les prochains séminaires devraient se tenir à New York, à l’été 2020, et à Marrakech, en novembre 2020. La soirée de lectures qui clôt le séminaire est ouverte à toutes et à tous.
تقريبا كل عام منذ عام 2004، تستضيف Tamaas ندوة لمدة أسبوع لترجمة الشعر. تمت دعوة مجموعة من الشعراء من أصول وأجيال متنوعة، مقرها أو إقامتها في باريس، للعمل في أزواج ومجموعات لترجمة أعمال بعضهم البعض. هذا التبادل بين الشاعر والشاعر في مناهج الترجمة هو سمة مميزة لورشة العمل عبر الثقافات، الذي يركز على قدرات المشاركين ككتاب للتعامل مع تحديات تقديم الشعر بلغة أخرى.

في عام 2019، عقدت ندوة الترجمة في منزل تماس "rue de Bagnolet" في باريس. بعد أول تكرار لها خارج المؤسسة الأكاديمية، أخذت الندوة اسم "ندوة تماس للترجمة." في خطوة نحو استضافة التجمعات التي تعتمد بشكل أقلً على الموارد الأرضية الثمينة، ستعقد الندوات القادمة في مواقع الأقمار الصناعية، مع انضمام المشاركين إما من المدينة المضيفة أو الأماكن التي يمكن الوصول إليها عن طريق البر.
تشارك الندوات عادة في ترجمة اللغات الفرنسية والإنجليزية والعربية، وفي بعض السنوات شملت أيضًا العبرية والفارسية والإيطالية. من الممكن أيضًا إدراج لغات أخرى في المستقبل. ستعقد الندوات القادمة في مدينة نيويورك في صيف 2020 ومراكش في نوفمبر 2020. الجميع مدعوون لحضور القراءة الختامية لقراءة الترجمات الجارية.
